Simplicity and transparency are key ingredients to organizational health.
To the extent possible, things should be simple. Straight forward and simply stated principles and values expressed as guidelines are more easily understood, remembered, internalized, and applied than complicated rules, regulations, or algorithmic standardized work. This is especially true when dealing with complex issues.
Simplicity simply works best.
Transparency is a multiplier. Compartmentalized and hierarchical silos are relics of an era when information was scarce and communication and connections were expensive. The organization itself can be the biggest impediment to meaningful work. Transparency and open networks break down the walls between privately managed gardens, thereby lowering barriers to information sharing, enhancing communication, collaboration and innovation.
Strive to be simple and transparent.
